The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the sealing of its National Headquarters in Abuja, labelling it an attempt to mar democracy.
NPO Reported that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) had earlier today shut down the opposition party’s Abuja secretariat amongst other properties over unpaid ground rents.
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had last week declared the take over of the properties with the PDP allegedly owing for over 28 years.
In the wake of the take over, the PDP arranged a National Caucus Meeting at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, strongly condemned the development.
In what he described as the highest level of irresponsibility, the PDP Chairman vowed to action as he accused the Federal Government of trying to mar democracy.
“This is the highest level of irresponsibility from this government. We are not going to take it lightly.
“In fact, they can come and arrest all of us. We are ready for that. We condemn this in totality.
“It is the highest level of irresponsibility. We will not tolerate it. They are trying to mar democracy and this is unacceptable.” He said.
Damagum however disclosed that the meeting has been postponed till tomorrow.
