The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has urged parents to monitor their wards following a rising trend in which drug peddlers disguise illicit substances, using treats.
The Spokesperson, NDLEA, Mr. Femi Babafemi gave the call in an X post on Sunday.
He noted that the substances are now being concealed in colourful packaging to resemble sweets, chocolates, biscuits and candy with the intent of luring young people.
“Parents, please pay attention to those substances that look like sweet, chocolate, candy or biscuit in the pockets and bags of your children.
“They come in colourful & attractive wraps & names but they’re destiny destroyers, as seen in sm latest @ndlea_nigeria seizures.” he wrote.
Similarly, operatives of the NDLEA, have intercepted a shipment of winter jackets bound for Europe containing thousands of tramadol pills.
The seizure was made on Saturday at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.
“These are winter jackets going to Europe but concealed in there are thousands of tramo pills as discovered by @ndlea_nigeria officers at Lagos airport on Saturday.”
