Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, have in a coordinated joint land neutralized scores of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in a failed attack on the Naval Base at Lake Chad in Fish Dam.
This was disclosed in an X post by the Nigerian Army on Wednesday.
According to the post, at about 2:00am the terrorists began their attempt to destroy the newly acquired Swamp Boggeys by the Borno State Government 2:00am to clear waterways in the Lake Chad.
However, their attempt was fiercely resisted by personnel of the Naval Base after which the attackers were forced to retreat after suffering heavy casualties.
According to the post, the terrorists were neutralized, and some Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials was recovered at the scene.
Although, the attack was largely repelled, minimal breach was made leading to the destruction of an ambulance and 2 other vehicles while some personnel were wounded in action.
Air support platforms have since been deployed to pursue retreating terrorists across the waterways, with follow-up operations ongoing to further weaken enemy hold in the region.
