Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in London to oversee the repatriation and accompany the body of late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, back to Nigeria.
NPO Reported the passing of the ex-President who died at London hospital on Sunday evening after prolonged illness.
While mourning the demise of his predecessor, President Bola Tinubu had sent Shettima to the United Kingdom to arrange the return of Buhari’s body to Nigeria.
The Vice President’s arrival was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha.
According to Nkwocha, the Vice President was received at the London hospital by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuff Tuggar, and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.
He was also accompanied by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Buhari who served as Nigerian President from 2015 to 2023 died at the age of 82.
His eight years tenure however saw him embark on frequent medical trips over health concerns.
