The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has on Monday dislodged hundreds of illegal street traders in Mile 2 area of the state over alleged traffic obstruction and environmental nuiscance.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X by the Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
According to Wahab, the traders’ activities at 2nd Rainbow Junction, inward Mile 2, often obstruct traffic flow and endanger pedestrians.
The Commissioner also accused them of littering the environment as he reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to cleanliness and road safety across the state.
“Our enforcement team is currently dislodging illegal street traders constituting nuisance at 2nd Rainbow Junction, inward Mile 2.
“These activities obstruct traffic flow, endanger pedestrians, and litter the environment.
“We remain committed to keeping our roads safe, clean, and free of all forms of environmental infractions.” Wahab wrote.
A video attached to the post showed LAGESC officials dismantling the traders’ makeshift kiosks during the raid.
