The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued the Federal Government a fresh 14-day ultimatum to address its demands or risk indefinite strike action.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by ASUU President, Christopher Piwuna.
While recounting several attempts to gain the attention of the Federal Government to the union’s plights, ASUU accused the government of neglecting the university system and refusing to heed to its demands.
ASUU charged the Federal Government to address the demands within the next 14 days of the union willl embark on a two-week warning strike.
Some of the demands as highlighted in the statement include renegotiation of the ASUU-FGN 2009 Agreement, sustainable funding of universities, payment of outstanding salary arrears, and settlement of over four years promotion arrears amongst others.
