Nigerian First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has mourned the passing of Arise TV’s journalist and news anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, describing her demise as painful and unfortunate.
NPO Reported that Maduagwu was shot dead on Monday in a robbery attack at her residence in Katampe area of Abuja.
Joining other sympathisers in mourning the shocking demise of the 29-year-old media personality, Oluremi Tinubu in a post on her X handle on Tuesday condoled with the Chairman of ARISE News Media, Chief Nduka Obaigbena.
She extended her condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of the late journalist.
The First Lady prayed and hope that the perpetrators are apprehended promptly and brought to justice.
Tinubu prayed that the soul of Somtochukwu Maduagwu may rest in peace and that God grants her family and loved ones the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
“I woke up to the sad news of the unfortunate and untimely death of one of our young and brilliant minds in the journalism profession, Somtochukwu Maduagwu.
“Her death is painful and quite unfortunate. She has been cut down in her prime.
“I condole with the chairman arise news media, Chief Nduka Obaigbena, her family, friends colleagues, and loved ones.
“It is my hope and prayer that the perpetrators will be apprehended as soon as possible and brought to book.
“May her soul rest in peace, and may God give her family, and all her dear ones the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.” She wrote.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command had disclosed that investigation is ongoing over the case.
Confirming the tragic incident in a telephone conversation with NPO Reports correspondent on Monday evening, the Police Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said they were the first respondent when the incident occurred and had since commenced investigation
“Investigation is ongoing. We are the ones that responded when they called us. So, we are investigating.” Adeh said.
