A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Taofeeq Mustapha, has alleged attacks by thugs allegedly suspected to be loyal to the ruling party, Accord in the state.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Saturday at the Oluode-Aranyin area of Osun capital city, Osogbo.
The arms-bearing hoodlums reportedly opened fire at Mustapha on arrival at the community, firing several gunshots in the air.
Mustapha alleged that his wearing a branded cap of the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, apparently led to the attacks by the thugs.
Video shared on social media showed the APC member with gunshot wounds around his legs.
Recounting his ordeal, Mustapha disclosed that the heavily armed assailants arrived in the area in an unmarked brown Toyota Sienna vehicle.
“They opened fire at me for wearing AMBO Cap. They nearly killed me.
“They came to attack me with a Sienna bus. They were all wearing Accord Party’s cap.” Mustapha said.
The victim was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Osogbo, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
Meanwhile, no official statement has been issued on the incident as NPO Reports that security agencies have said the attack will be investigated.
There have been tension in Osun in the last few weeks with many cases of shootings and killings in some parts of the state.l
Just this week, a 14 year old boy Ezekiel Olopade, was gunned by thugs in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state. Those who carried out the shootings were said to have come in a Siena bus branded in the campaign vehicle of APC.
In the same vein, one Aderogba was killed in Esa Oka while accusing fingers were pointed at the APC.
The chairman of the Accord Party in Osun, Asimiyu Ajibola had weeks ago had allegedly escaped being killed after some gunmen went after him at the state capital.
On Saturday, a member of Accord in Osun, who identified himself as Ojasope, had cried out in a video alleging that APC assailants were after his life.
Ojasope had claimed in the video that since he decamped to the Accord Party from the APC, strange people have been trailing him.
He said some gunmen stormed his residence in Osogbo in the wee hours of Saturday shooting sporadically saying he escaped being killed by the whiskers
