Hundreds of Taraba State College of Nursing Science students have on Monday staged protest over the alleged rape and mutilation of a female colleague by suspected hoodlums.
The hoodlums reportedly broke into a female hostel located outside the institution’s premises on Sunday night, attacking and raping one of the female students in Jalingo, the state’s capital city.
Coupled with the rape, the hoodlums allegedly inflicted injuries on the victim, including cutting one of her fingers.
They dispossessed other students of their phones and other valuables.
In the wake of the incident, the victim’s colleague took to the street in protest over the attack.
Videos shared on X showed the students blocking the school gate as they refused to enter the school premises.
One of the students who recorded the video disclosed that the incident occurred barely two after similar attack on some students in their hostel.
The aggrieved protesters stormed the school gate with placards which contained inscriptions targeted at the school’s Provost.
One of the inscriptions on the placards read, ‘Mrs Provost, tackle insecurity and rape in your school.’
They also called for the intervention of the Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas.
