Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has lamented over the recent bandits attack and killings at Oke Ode community in Kwara state and some other parts of the country.
NPO Reported that bandits had on Sunday morning launched attack on the community, killing over 15 people, including vigilantes and a traditional ruler.
The attack had on Tuesday seen several residents flee the community for safer communities.
Reacting to the tragic incident in a statement posted on his X handle yesterday, Atiku expressed concern over the spate of attacks in the state.
The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Presidential candidate called on security agencies and policy makers to curtail the recurrences.
He also called for all hands to be on deck in tackling the reign of bandits in the state.
“The tempo of armed attacks in some parts of Kwara State, and indeed in different parts of the country, is alarming.
“The recent being the reported tragic killings at Oke-Ode where innocent lives, including vigilantes and the traditional ruler of Ogbayo community, were killed by rampaging bandits.
“I wish to once again make a call to relevant security agencies and policy makers to not let the map of insecurity fester, as it seems.
“I would implore that all hands are on deck to ensure that our beloved Kwara State and its people are not just protected but also be the bulwark against a raging dark army of armed criminals.
“Kwara is a gateway, and we must fight for its safety.” Atiku wrote.
