President Bola Tinubu has on Thursday promoted the newly appointed service chiefs with new ranks.
This is coming hours after their screening and confirmation by the Senate.
In the wake of their confirmation, Tinubu would in a short ceremony held in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, decorated the new service chiefs with their new ranks.
The new Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede, was decorated with the new rank of General as against his initial Lieutenant General rank.
In the same vein, the new Chief of Army Staff, (formerly Major General) Wahidi Shaibu, was elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General while the Chief of Naval Staff, (formerly Rear Admiral) Idi Abbas, was decorated as Vice Admiral.
On the other hand, the Chief of Air Staff, (formerly Air Vice Marshal) Kelvin Aneke, was decorated with the rank of Air Marshall while the Chief of Defence Intelligence, (formerly Major General) Emmanuel Undiendeye, was elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General.
NPO Reported that Tinubu had last week reshuffled the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The changes saw Oluyede, redeployed as the CDS from the Chief of Army Staff which he occupied since the demise of former Army Chief Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
With the redeployment of Oluyede, Tinubu announced the appointment of Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff.
In the same vein, the President announced the appointment of Aneke as the new Chief of Air Staff while Idi Abass emerged as the new Chief of Naval Staff.
However, Undiendeye was retained as the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
