The 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has heaped praises of renowned Nigerian journalist, Reuben Abati, in celebration of his 60th birthday.
Obi joined other well-wishers to felicitate with the former Presidential spokesperson who clocked 60 on Friday.
In a heartfelt statement posted on his official X handle, the former Anambra state governor lauded Abati for his contribution to national discourse and promotion of enlightenment on good governance and accountability.
He described the popular Guardian newspaper columnist and Arise TV presenter as a distinguished journalist, public intellectual, and statesman.
Obi lauded his depth thought which he claimed to have enriched journalism and strengthened democracy in.
The statement read; “I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating Dr Reuben Abati, a distinguished journalist, public intellectual, and statesman, as he marks his 60th birthday today.
“Dr Abati has, through his pen and voice, contributed immensely to national discourse, promoting enlightenment, accountability, and good governance.
“His brilliance, courage, and depth of thought have enriched journalism and strengthened democracy in our nation.
“As he attains this milestone, I thank God for his life of impact and service to humanity. May he continue to enjoy good health, wisdom, and renewed strength in the years ahead.
