Former Chairman of the Osun state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and reinstated monarch, Oba Gboyega Famodun, has died.
Famodun reportedly passed away on Saturday at the age of 67 at a hospital in Abuja where he was receiving treatment over an undisclosed ailment.
The demise of the Owa of Igbajo is however yet to formally announced by his family as at the time of filing this report.
Famodun emerged the new Owa of Igbajo in 2022 and was presented the staff of office by former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola.
Prior to his ascension to the throne, he was the Osun State APC Chairman but stepped down after Oyetola’s defeat to current Osun governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the July 16, 2022 governorship election.
Oyetola had before his departure presented the late Famodun the staff of office as new Owa of Igbajo in November 21, 2022.
The monarch would however be sacked by Adeleke barely a week after.
Following his sacking, Famodun was immediately taken into seclusion, performing all the traditional rites prescribed by the kingmakers of the ancient town.
He was recently reinstated by Adeleke before his shocking demise.
