A fire eruption on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tanker has on Tuesday sparked panic among residents of an Ondo community.
The incident reportedly occurred along the Igoba-Ado Road when the truck conveying the CNG tanker was forced to stop by the roadside after fire erupted from the rear of the vehicle.
Video of the incident shared on Instagram by @Madefem_media showed the fire burning between the rear tyres of the vehicle and the CNG tanker.
The driver could be seen attempting to quench the fire with a bucket of water, confirming the residents’ claim in the video that he had no fire extinguisher in the vehicle
This however failed to work as the fire rages.
While it remained unclear whether the fire was eventually extinguished, the absence of fire extinguisher in the vehicle had however raised safety concerns with netizens calling out the truck operators as others blamed the residents for not assisting the driver.
