The United States Mission in Nigeria has hailed Lagos-born wrestler, Isaac Odugbesan, known by the ring name Obafemi, over his victory over World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE, icon, Brock Lesnar, at the recently concluded Summerslam.
Obafemi and Brock Lesnar had taken their onscreen rift to the Summerslam held earlier this month.
The wrestlers faced off against each other in a brutal Hell in a Cell match with Obafemi emerging winner and finally retiring Brock Lesnar.
At the end of the fight, Lesnar raised the hand of the Nigerian wreslter, declaring him the future of WWE.
Reacting to Obafemi’s victory in a statement issued on its X handle on Tuesday, the US Mission in Nigeria held that victory affirms the US’ position as a country where talent can meet opportunity.
The mission boasted of the US’ commitment in rewarding ambition, discipline and drive by individuals from across the world.

Obafemi had, since his breakthrough into the WWE roaster from the development brand of the wrestling company, NXT, become a household name in Nigeria.
He had also attracted fans all over the world with his signature strut move becoming a global trend among wrestling fans.
