As Davido Claims Deceased Victims Are Accord Party Members

No fewer than three people have been confirmed dead in a fatal cult clash in Imo area of Ilesa Osun State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Osun State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi.
According to Ojelabi, the fatal clash reportedly ensued between suspected members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities at about 8:00 p.m which led to the death of three people in the area.
‘Following the incident, three persons, identified as Idowu, Yinka and Eja, all yet to be properly identified were reportedly shot dead.
‘Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, psc, mnips, immediately directed the deployment of operatives of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to the area to prevent further escalation, apprehend those responsible and restore calm.’ The police spokesperson wrote.
Four expended cartridges and two Android mobile phones were recovered from the scene by the police, while preliminary investigations have commenced.
Ojelabi assured the public that the command is working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify all persons connected with the clash while also forestalling any reprisal attack.
In the wake of the incident, the Etaifo has directed the VCRU operatives and other tactical teams to intensify patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led operations within Ilesa and adjoining areas, particularly around identified flashpoints, to forestall any reprisal attack.
The Police Commissioner in charge of the forthcoming governorship lection warned members of rival cult groups and other criminal elements against taking advantage of the incident to cause further violence.
While also confirming the incident in a post shared on his X handle, Nigerian afrobeat singer, Davido Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, alleged that the murdered victims were members of the Accord Party.
