‘There are positive and negative impacts of social media,’ these were the words of Bose Ande whose group chose the positive side by giving back to their community with distribution of relief materials to the elderly and students.
The group, under the aegis of Royal House of Excellencies Humanitarian and Employment Foundation, embarked on outreach to residents across Lagos communities.
With members who largely joined via TikTok, the Non-Government Organisation (NGO) distributed relief materials including rice, provisions, and cash amongst others to aged ones while school bags and noodles were given to students present at the event.
Speaking at the event, Ande recounted the group was created via TikTok.
The CEO of Bossland Events who also doubled as the International Platform Coordinator of the group, disclosed that the foundation was created with the aim of supporting those in need as well as empowering them with skills.
“We are individuals that come together to see to the need of the less privileged, the vulnerable, and the destitute in our community.
“We are individuals that put ourselves together via TikTok. So, I can tell you that there is a positive impact on social media and there is a negative impact on social media.
“This is our second major activities. We’ve done so many. The first one was in Isolo Local Government which we did same thing, and I believe that some people promised to be here.
“This is a way of celebrating our mothers and fathers who are aged ones. A way of telling the students that we love them, a way of appreciating them and being part of what their parents are doing.
“We have rice for the aged ones and cash to empower them in our own little way.
“We have school bags for the children. We have Mimee noodles for the students. We have sanitary pads, and liquid soaps.
“At the same time, we will be training them to be self-empowered because we have some of them that are still able to work and do things. Our aim of coming together is to give hope to the hopeless and make them believe that indeed, you can make it.” She said.
Meanwhile, the foundation is majorly funded by Rasaq Abayomi Isiaka, who also serve as its President.
The foundation has carried out various humanitarian and empowerment activities, such as distributing food items, cash, school supplies, empowerment, and supporting countless individuals worldwide with house rent, school fees, hospital bills, assistance for those wishing to relocate to other countries.
In 2024, it conducted a charity outreach in Lagos State with another organised during this year’s Eid al-Adha (Sallah) celebration, held in Ogun State.
During Easter, the foundation reached out to the Correctional Center and several communities in Ibadan.
In July, its members across the globe celebrated the founder and president’s birthday by embarking on charity outreaches across Nigeria, including empowering people in FCT Abuja, supporting less privileged communities and schools in Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, and Taraba States, as well as engaging with religious organizations.
They also plan to expand our outreach to other parts of Nigeria and beyond.
