There is palpable apprehension in Jamo, a village not far from the Sokoto airport where one of the missiles fired by the United states had landed causing a huge fire.
Residents could not particularly describe how the missiles landed as hundreds ran for safety but those who managed to catch a glimse of the fireballs said that it landed on a farmland hitting no one in particular.

NPO Reports that US President, Mr. Donald Trump late Thursday, announced that he had ordered the Department of War to launch what he called a “deadly” attack on the elements of the Islamic State of West Africa believed to be camping in the region.
Announced via his Truth Socials, Trump said he had earlier warned of consequences should what he called ‘Christian Genocide” is not halted.
Nigeria had countered Trump saying that the killings by terrorists in Nigeria is not target to Christians but against Muslims as well.
Just two days ago, worshippers were killed in Borno state mosque confirming that activities of terrorists do not only affect Christians but also Muslims.
A video of the fires that erupted after the launch of the missiles showed many residents later coming back to see it.
Sokoto state government was yet to make a categorical statement as at the time of filing this report.
An Al-Jazeerah report quoted some residents as describing the terrifying situation in the area.
“Abdulrahman Mainasara, a Jabo resident, explained that Thursday night’s attack struck an already cultivated farmland behind a primary school at the outskirts of the village.
“Abulrahman visited the scene last night, took some pictures and witnessed how some locals carried debris from the scene.
“The bomb fell and burst into many pieces. There were two big pieces of debris. One of them was carried by two people,” he told Al Jazeera on Friday.
Another resident, Ismail Umar, said the community has not experienced any armed group attack in more than two years.
While armed fighters, locally known as bandits, operate in Nigeria’s northwest, their operations are mostly in the eastern part of Sokoto State and not the southern part of the state where the US attacked.
