A fire outbreak has on Tuesday gutted the popular Arena market in Oshodi, Lagos state, destroying goods worth millions of Naira.
The inferno, which broke out in the afternoon, torched several shops located in the market.
Video of the incident shared on Instagram showed thick black smoke billowing from the raging fire which rapidly engulfed the shops.
Some of the traders and affected shop owners could be seen with some goods they managed to secure from their shops before the fire intensified.
While a fire fighter van could be spotted at the scene with its siren blaring, one of the traders alleged that the fire fighters arrived at the scene without water in their tank.
The cause of the inferno is however yet to be confirmed.
