Daughter of former Governor of Imo State Uloma Nwosu has narrated how officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission broke into her father’s house in Abuja on Tuesday.
Uloma said the operatives forced their way into her father’s room through the roof.
She said they had demanded for a warrant of arrest which the EFCC officials failed to present. Saying that the entire manner of arrest called to question the integrity of the anti-corruption agency and the whole anti-graft war, Mrs. Nwosu, who is married to the former Chief of Staff to Okorocha said the operatives shot their way into the premises and assaulted those in the house in a bid to effect their arrest.
“My brother, Amen, was beaten,” she accused the EFCC officials adding that her mother was pushed down .
She said that the intention of those behind the arrest was suspect adding that it appeared that the whole plan was to ensure that Okorocha did not participate in the screening exercise of the All Progressive Congress slated to begin on Tuesday.
The daughter queried why her father would be arrested on the same day the presidential screening exercise had slated him to appear adding that it was the same thing was done on the day he made a public declaration to contest for the 2023 presidential poll.
Uloma said her father had been attending meetings which indicated that he is not hiding anything.
She said the lawyer to the family, Wole Olanipekun was invited to the house in the middle of the confusion demanded for a search warrant which the operatives failed to produce.
“It seems dodgy,” Uloma said on a live television programme on Arise TV on Wednesday.
Ebunola Martins, spokesman of the Rochas Okorocha Campaign Organisation while speaking on the same programme displayed a court order which stopped the EFCC from further arrest of harassment of Okorocha.
“The agencies of the government are not obeying the law. And they want you to obey the law.” Martins said
Martins said it was unfortunate that President Muhammadu Buhari who was supported with everything to become the president had been party to attempts to destroy one of his benefactors.
He said ahead of Buhari’s election in 2015, he was introduced to Buhari by Okorocha . “I sold my hotel. I sold my water factor. Today, I have not benefitted a single thing from his administration,” he lamented.
Martins asked Buhari to recall all assistance given to him by himself and Okorocha and stop further harassments of the former Imo State Governor.
