The 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has on Thursday attended the funeral of the three brothers killed in the tragic fire outbreak at the Great Nigeria Insurance House (GNI) in Lagos.
NPO Reported that a major fire had on Christmas Eve broken out at the GNI House- a high-rise building located at 47/57 Martins Street, Lagos Island.
The incident which occurred around 5pm and lasted for days had claimed the lives of eight occupants including the three brothers identified as Stephen Omatu, Casmir Omatu, and Collins Omatu.
While a Service of Songs and Requiem Mass was held for the late brothers last week, their bodies would however be laid to rest today.
Obi joined the family and friends of the deceased brothers at the funeral.

The former Anambra state governor arrived at the event in his signatory black outfit and was received by the grieving family members who all held framed pictures of the late brothers whose coffins were placed side-by-side.
Obi’s attendance of the funeral had since sparked mixed reactions with some netizens lauding his gesture while others faulted his presence at the event.
