- Safiu Kehinde
Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has reaffirmed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) determination to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) out of power, stressing that intimidation and violence will not deter the opposition.
This is coming hours after gunmen attacked the ex-Rivers governor’s convoy at his hometown in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
NPO Reported that the gunmen had on Friday barricaded the road and exchanged fire with the security personnel attached to Amaechi.
The attack also came hours after suspected hoodlums set ablaze ADC Ward Secretariat in community ahead of the former Minister’s arrival for the commencement of the party’s e-registration exercise.
Reacting to the development after visiting the burnt secretariat, Amaechi, in a post on his X handle, held that the attacks will not deter the ADC but the make the party stronger.
He however urged members of the party not to resort to violence while calling on security operatives to apprehend the perpetrators and their spomsors.
