Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reacted to Nigerian Afrobeat singer’s David, loss of the 2026 Grammy award.
NPO Reported that the Nigerian afrobeat was nominated for the Best African Music Performance award with his single, With You.
Ahead of the event held on Sunday, Davido arrived at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles alongside his wife and team.
He however lost the prestigious award to South African singer, Tyla.
NPO Reported that the 24-year-old won for her song Push 2 Start, which was preferred over tracks by Ayra Starr, Burna Boy and Davido, as well as Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo.
Meanwhile, the emergence of the South African singer as winner over Davido had sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians, especially Davido’s fans and associates who alleged that the OBO crooner was robbed.
In contrast to the dissenting voices, Adeleke in a post on his X handle simply expressed his delight with Davido over his nomination is nomination.
The Osun governor and uncle to the singer maintained that he remains proud of him.
“Proud of you always @davido” Adeleke wrote in caption on pictures of Davido and his wife taken at the Grammy awards night.
Davido and the Osun state governor had over the years established stronger ties beyond family bond.
The singer played a crucial role in campaigning and mobilisation for Adeleke during the 2022 Osun Gubernatorial election.
He had also frequently joined the governor in some of his political engagements including last year’s courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu.
