A group of Catholic Priests has on Thursday staged a protest over the constant kidnapping and killings in Taraba State.
This is coming two days after the reported renewed attack on Tiv communities in Takum Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred on Tuesday evening led to the death of scores of residents with many others injured.
With the attack allegedly targeted at Christian communities, the Catholic Priests took to the street on Thursday to express their displeasure with the recent developments.
Videos shared on X showed the clergymen with banners demanding for the state government’s intervention over the incessant attacks on the communities.
Prior to the protest, a community elder and official of the Northern Christians Religious Leaders Assembly (NOCRELA), Rev. Dr. Amb. Micah Philip Dopah, had earlier lamented the government’s failure to act despite repeated appeals.
Dopah reportedly described the attacks as coordinated and targeted, disclosing that at least 102 people were killed within 33 days in multiple assaults on Tiv settlements in Chanchanji district.
