The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three suspects over alleged Naira mutilation in Borno State.
The suspects, identified as Adam Muhammad, Muhammad Muhammad, and Bashir Musa, were reportedly apprehended by the EFCC’s Maiduguri Zonal Directorate.
According to a statement issued on the commission’s official X handle on Thursday, the suspects were arrested following a viral video capturing them cleaning their nose with N500 note.
“Adam, Muhammad and Musa were arrested following a viral video circulated on social media platforms where they were seen cleaning mucus from their nose using N500 Naira note.
“Following the release of the video, the Commission traced the trio and arrested them in the Maiduguri metropolis area.” The statement partly read.
The EFCC said that the suspects are currently under investigation at the Maiduguri detention facility while investigation is ongoing.
It vowed to charge them to court upon conclusion of investigations.
