Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s fiscal reforms and renewed commitment to cooperative federalism, stressing that the reforms have accelerated growth across states and curb their reliance on borrowing.
Sani made this known during address in Abuja after receiving the 2026 Governor of the Year Award from Leadership Newspaper.
The Kaduna governor said the administration’s policies had strengthened the fiscal position of subnational governments at a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s economic reset.
“With the bold reforms and sustained support extended to subnational governments by Tinubu, states now have greater fiscal stability and reduced need for external and domestic loans.
“His approach to cooperative federalism has been practical and consequential, empowering states as true partners in national development, which has repositioned states as effective drivers of national development.”
The Governor said Kaduna had leveraged the improved fiscal space to expand infrastructure and human capital investment without accumulating unsustainable debt.
“We are implementing 140 road projects covering 1,335 kilometres across the state.
“These are economic corridors—linking farmers to markets, children to schools and communities to opportunity,” he stated.
Sani added that three skills acquisition centres inaugurated in Kaduna by Tinubu were e equipping thousands of youths annually with market-relevant skills, strengthening productivity and social stability.
He further disclosed that Kaduna had allocated 11 per cent of its 2026 budget to agriculture—one of the highest subnational commitments—aligning with the President’s focus on food security and macroeconomic stability.
“President Tinubu understands that national transformation must be built from the ground up.
*Food security, job creation and economic stability depend on the productivity of our states,” Sani said.
In its citation, Leadership Newspaper described the governor’s leadership as anchored on reconciliation through development, highlighting infrastructure renewal, healthcare expansion, agricultural support and youth empowerment across Kaduna State.
