President Bola Tinubu has ordered probe into the fire outbreak in Kano State’s Singer Market which left destroyed goods and properties worth millions of Naira.
Tinubu gave the order while commiserating with traders and people of Kano State over the devastating fire outbreak which occurred over the weekend.
According to a statement issued today by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the fire, which started on Saturday evening, raged into Sunday morning, causing significant damage to the food market.
In the wake of the incident, Tinubu had reportedly reached out to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to obtain a situation report on the fire, described the incident as tragic.
The President was, according to Onanuga, alarmed that the latest incident came less than two weeks after another fire destroyed dozens of shops and property at the same market.
He directed a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the market fires, which often leave traders in despair.
