The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has on Saturday embarked on inspection of polling units across the capital city in the ongoing 2026 FCT Council Election.
Wike paid an unannounced visit to some of the polling units.
As captured in series of videos shared on X, the FCT Minister was seen engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials in conversation over the conduct of the election across the visited polling units.
Some voters present at the poll could be seen hailing Wike at each stop-by before moving to another polling unit.
Meanwhile, as observed by NPO Reports, there was low turnout of voters at most of the polling units visited by the Minister as some ballot boxes could be seen with few ballot papers as at the time of the inspection.
Coupled with reported cases of late arrival of INEC officials, vote buying and ballot paper theft, voters’ apathy was another subject of concern in the ongoing election in the capital city.
