The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, has expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council election.
Amupitan made this known during his inspection of polling units across the capital city on Saturday.
The INEC chairman declared the election peaceful, efficient, and orderly.
These, according to him are the indices of determining a good election.
“You can see yourself that the election is orderly. The election is also very effficient.
“The election is peaceful and those are the indices of a good election.” He said.
As against reports on the technical challenges experienced on the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) in some polling units, Amupitan expressed satisfaction on the operation of the machine.
“As far as the efficiency of the BVAS is concerned, I am very satisfied because the BVAS has worked very effectively and efficiently.
“From what I have takem from the Assistant Presiding Officers, it takes about less than five seconds to even accredit a voter.” He said.
The INEC Chairman further lauded the elctorates for their turnout at the poll as he reiterated the election was well organised.
“And you can see from here that there is large turnout meaning that a lot people are becoming aware of the need to come and cast their votes.
“So far, I can say that the election is well-organised.” He added.
