The Mjnister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), has debunked his rumoured resignation plan.
This is coming amid social media posts alleging Musa’s decision to step down from his role.
The minister, in a statement issued on Monday by his media aide, Leah Katung-Babatunde, labelled the claims as false.
Katung-Babatunde held that the claims were fabricated, stressing that the mi ister has no intention to step.
“The attention of the Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence has been drawn to a malicious and an entirely fabricated rumour circulating across various online and social media platforms alleging that the Honourable Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) OFR, has expressed an intention to step down from his position.
“We wish to state unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms that these rumours are absolute falsehood borne out of complete mischief.” The statement partly read.
The defence minister’s aide reiterated that Musa remains focused on his national security mandate as he talked down his alleged plan to resign.
“General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) remains fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen.” Katung-Babatunde wrote.
The aide urged members of the public to disregard the fake reports about his planned resignation.
“The general public is hereby urged to completely disregard this fake news. We strongly advise media outlets and internet users to desist from spreading unverified information and seek clarifications from the office.” She added.
