The African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, has slammed the All Progessives Congress (APC) over what he labelled as political overreaction and usage of insulting words in its response to his initial statement where he accused the ruling party of being responsible for the attack on the ADC leaders in Edo state.
NPO Reported that the Abdullahi had in reaction to the alleged assassination attempt against the 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other ADC leaders at the residence of former Edo governor, John Odigie-Oyegun, accused the APC of carrying out terrorism act against the party.
In a fiery response, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, slammed the ADC over the allegation which the ruling party outrightly denied.
Morka further labelled the ADC as its own nemesis as he blamed the internal leadership crisis of the opposition party for the attack.
Abdullahi would in another statement issued on Thursday faulted the APC’s reaction, describing the ruling party’s shifting of blame to ADC as a strategy from dictator’s playbook.
He accused the APC of name-calling, charging the ruling party to embrace criticism and allegation if it is confident as it claimed to be.
“The African Democratic Congress will not be distracted by name-calling or narrative smokescreens. Our position remains simple and consistent: violence in our political space must be investigated transparently, professionally, and without premature absolution.
“If the APC is as confident as it claims, it should welcome the same sunlight and due process it now so loudly invokes.
“The APC tactic is straight from the dictatorship playbook: attack the opposition, then blame them for attacking themselves. But no one is falling for it.
“Maybe they should start by talking to their Edo State Governor.” Abdullahi wrote.
The ADC spokesperson further slammed the ruling party over some choice of words used by Morka which he considered insulting and unbefitting of a ruling party.
Abdullahi extracted some of the words from the APC statement which include ‘insufferable jesters, utterly delusional, reckless, flippant, confused bunch, and political wanderers’.
He held that the APC’s choice of words fell below the standard of measured communication and more of political overreaction.
