Ogun State lawmaker, Sen. Solomon Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, has expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over is endorsement as the state’s governorship candidate for the forthcoming 2027 gubernatorial election.
NPO Reported that Adeola had yesterday emerged as the consensus candidate of the party during the stakeholders meeting held in Abeokuta, the state’s capital city.
The current state governor, Dapo Abiodun, had announced the Ogun West Senatorial District’s lawmaker as his successor during the meeting.
Addressing newsmen after the endorsement, Adeola specially thank the governor and all leaders of the party for the opportunity.
He also expressed his gratitude to his fellow aspirants, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, for their acceptance of his candidacy.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God Almighty for this day and I want to say that I thank His Excellency, the governor of our dear state, for providing leadership at this point in time.
“I want to equally thank all the leaders of the party who came out in their numbers today during the APC state caucus meeting to witness this epic inauguration.
“We want to thank them for according the people of Ogun West this opportunity to produce the next governor.
“And I want to from there thank my brothers Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade. I want to thank them for the role they played for us to one candidate to represent us in the forthcoming election.” Adeola said.
While declaring his emergence as a no winner, no loser situation, the consensus candidate called for unity across the Ogun West Senatorial District.
He charged all his supporters as well as those of the other aspirants to stand in unity and work with one voice ahead of the 2027 election.
“I want to say that there are no winner and no loser here. We remain one indivisible entity, and we have all agreed to work together for one purpose.
“One for the unity of our Senatorial district and by extension, for the unity of the people of Ogun state.
“Most importantly, one thing we are here for is to see that the entire Ogun West, we are going to speak in one voice.” He said,
Adeola reiterated that there will be no disunity among their supporters as he warned against any attempt to bring about such.
“There is not to be any disunity whatsoever. And we use this opportunity to call on all our supporters to sheathe their swords.
“We are not going to allow anybody to take advantage of this process to start singing or doing anything that can bring about some disunity among us.
“So, starting from tonight, we remain one indivisible entity, and we are going to speak in one voice from now on till then and beyond.” The lawmaker said.
Speaking on his plan for the state, Adeola acknowledged the efforts and achievements of the current administration.
He held that his administration, if elected, will leverage on the accomplishments of the Abiodun-led administration, sustain and take them to the next level.
“As for what are the intentions, the intentions are clear. This present administration is working very hard to ensure that Ogun state is on a very sound footing, both infrastructurally and economically.
“And for any sensible person coming on board, you know that you can only but consolidate on the good work of the achievements of this administration and take it to the next level.
“For the people of Ogun state, if we emerge come Feburary 6, I can tell you that is going to be a new dawn and I can tell you that the good work this administration has put in place we will consolidate on it and take everything to the next level.” He said.
The lawmaker again thanked the leader for the APC while promising not to disappoint the party and the people of Ogun State.
“I sincerely thank the party, the APC, for endorsing me as the consensus gubernatorial candidate of the party and assure you that I will not let them down and I will not let the people of Ogun state down if eventually I come through Feburary 6.” He added.
