A wave of violence descended on the inauguration of a campaign secretariat by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Cross River State on Saturday as hoodlums stormed the place destroying everything in sight.
Apart from destruction of equipments such as chairs, tables, canopies, the hoodlums also destroyed sounds and musical equipments which had earlier been arranged for the meeting of members.
The incident, which according to the ADC Vanguard which shared it on its X handle, happened on Saturday in Bakkasi Local Government Area of the state.
NPO Reports that members and leaders of the ADC, a growing opposition party in Nigeria, have come under similar attacks in Lagos, Kaduna, Kebbi, Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo State.
Key political figures in Nigeria who are leaders of the ADC and hail from Cross River include former Governors Liyel Imoke and Donald Duke.

On Sunday, Police Command in Cross River through its spokesman, ASP Sunday Eitokpah confirmed the disruption of the ADC, political gathering in Bakassi Local Government Area by suspected political thugs.
In the video, one of the thugs could be heard repeatedly saying that there is no other political party that will be allowed in the state other than the All Progressive Congress, APC.
After destroying the sounds system and the canopies and chairs some of the hoodlums could be seen pursuing one of the ADC members who ran for his life as they pursued him.
The police later said that the commissioning of the campaign office could not go ahead because of what he called the “chaotic situation.,”
The police did not state if anyone has been arrested over the violence.
