The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has slammed Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, over his talks of possible defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This is coming after Bala hint of possible defection to the ADC as he accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of rejecting him.
In reaction to the Peoples Demoratic Party’s (PDP) Governor’s Forum Chairman claim, Wike accused Bala of lacking character.
Wike, while addressing newsmen during a project inspection in Abuja on Wednesday, recalled how the Bauchi governor had during the 2023 presidential campaign revealed his plan for both of them to work for President Bola Tinubu.
Bala would, according to Wike, switch alleigance to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar few days after their meeting.
“I want Nigerians to hear this. In 2022/ 2023 when the president as the presidential candidate of the APC, this same Bala Mohammed- no shame, no character, came down to Port Harcourt to meet me that look, we have to work for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he can never work with Atiku.
“It didn’t last four days, same man who came to lure me has now moved to meet Atiku.
“They don’t even know that Nigerians are watching them. You said one thing in the morning, in the night you said a different thing. What type of character is that.” He said.
Wike also disclosed their conversation in a recent meeting before his faction’s National Convention.
The FCT Minister alleged that Bala asked for the positon of the faction’s National Secretary after initially urging him not to hold the convention.
“The Caretaker Committee came to say okay look, our convention will hold. You are now coming to tell me that let us not hold convention.
“We are not lawbreakers. We will obey the law and judgements of the court. He now said can they have some positions. I asked what type of position he wants. He said give me Secretary.
“I said look, you are a conquered person and you are looking for a big elephant. Why not stoop low. You are already conquered. You lost and you are talking from a weak point. That is not done.” He said.
Bala allegedly informed him about how he was rejected by the APC with the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the PDP also not wanting him again.
Wike held that the Bauchi state governor has shown his true character to Nigerians as an unstable politician in search for platform.
“So, Bala, we are very happy that you’ve told Nigerians who you are that you are never stable. You are looking for which party will give you platform.” He said.
Mesnwhile, Bala would earlier host tye APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yiltwatda in Bauchi, raising fresh speculation over possible reconsideration of the APC as his next party.
