The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has assured the residents of the state of continued service after securing his re-election bid.
NPO Reported that Oyebanji had emerged winner of the Saturday governorship election to earn a second term in office.
In the result announced in the early hours of Sunday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Oyebanji recorded 319,224 votes.
He defeated his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Wole Oluyede, who scored 40,543 votes.
Announcing the results, Mrs Adenike Oladiji, INEC’s Chief Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, said Oyebanji satisfied all the requirements in the election and was declared elected.
Speaking after the declaration, Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to Ekiti residents who came out to vote.
He assured them of continued service while maintaining that his administration will continue with the 30-year development plan already laid down for implementation.
“I must thank Ekiti people for coming out. If you look at the percentage of votes for APC, it is above 85 percent. We will continue to serve Ekiti people.
“I have a proper understanding of the responsibility that this has placed on our shoulder.
“This is responsibility of continuous service to Ekiti people and I assure them that we will serve them with courage, compassion, humility, and fear of God.
“They should continue to expect better service from us as we coast home the first term and prepare for the second term.
“I have my job cut out for me. We have a 30-year development plan that guides whatever we do in Ekiti state. We will continue to implement that plan. We can’t deviate from it.” He said.
