Former Ogun state lawmaker, Sen. Iyabo Obasanjo, has paid a coutresy visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos.
Obasanjo visited the President at his Bourdillon residence in what was considered part for her moves in her ongoing pursuit for the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) governorship ticket for 2027 Ogun guber election.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the former Ogun Commissiom for Health lauded Tinubu’s strong commitment to strengthening democracy and providing the requisite leadership to make the country great again.
She maintained that her meeting with the President was very fruitful and memorable, as their discussion centred on leadership and the further development of the country.
“Yesterday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance, and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.
“I sincerely thank the President for his time, wisdom and his lasting commitment to strengthening our democracy and supporting the next generation of leaders.” She said.
Obasanjo reaffirmed her interest in the 2027 Ogun governorship election as she disclosed ongoing consultations.
“As we continue consultations ahead of 2027, I remain committed to serving with integrity, experience, and a people-centered approach.
“The journey continues with purpose, clarity and enduring dedication to Ogun State.” She said.
The former lawmaker who represented Ogun Central Senatorial district from 2007 to 2011 expressed confidence in her vast experience which considered important for fostering meaningful.development to thr people.
“I have been part of the political landscape of this state for many years and I understand the aspirations and challenges of our people.
“I am not new to the system, and I believe that experience is important when it comes to governance and delivering meaningful development to the people.” The ex-lawmaker said.
Obasanjo pledged to prioritise strengthening education and improving healthcare delivery amongst others if given the opportunity to serve as Ogun governor.
“What Ogun State needs at this time is leadership that understands the people and is committed to transforming every sector of our economy.
“If given the opportunity to serve as governor, I will focus on strengthening education, improving healthcare delivery and creating employment opportunities for our youths.
“We must build a state where our young people have jobs, where our schools produce future leaders, and where our health institutions can adequately cater for the needs of our citizens.
“My commitment is to work tirelessly to ensure that every part of Ogun State experiences real development and improved quality of life.” She added.
