Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has mourned the death of Brigadier-General O. Braimah allegedly killed during terrorists’ attack on the 29 Task Force Brigade camp in Benisheikh, Borno state.
NPO Reported that the military camp had on Thursday come under coordinated attack with several soldiers killed.
Though unconfirmed in a statement issued by the Defence Headquarters, the insurgents were reported to have killed the Braimah during the attack on the camp.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued on his X handle on Friday, Atiku expressed his sadness over the death of the senior Army officer.
He expressed his condolences to Braimah’s family while hailing the daily sacrifices of the men and women of the Nigeria Armed Forces.
“My heart is heavy at the news of the killing of Brigadier-General O. Braimah, Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, alongside gallant soldiers and the brigade’s Imam, in the Boko Haram attack on Benisheikh.
“To his dear wife, his brother Alasa, and the entire Braimah family, I extend my deepest condolences.
“We honour his supreme sacrifice, and the daily sacrifices of all the brave men and women who stand on the frontlines to keep our nation safe.
“May their service not be in vain. May Allah grant them Aljannah Firdaus, and comfort the families they leave behind.” Atiku wrote.
NPO Reported that President Bola Tinubu had also in a statement mourned the soldiers killed during the attack.
However, Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, did not mention the Brigadier-General, leaving claims of his death in the attack unconfirmed.
