United Kingdom-based Nigerian Financial Broadcaster, Juliana Olayinka, has sent tongues waggling as she shared photos of herself with President Bola Tinubu hours after tagging his removal of former Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, as a miscalculated decision.
NPO Reported that Edun was on Tuesday relieved of his duty by the president who appointed the Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, as his replacement.
Edun would also be joined in the minor cabinet reshuffle by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Musa Dangiwa, who is now replaced with Muttaqha Rabe Darma.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued on her X handle, Olayinka had faulted Tinubu’s decision.
The journalist held that the minister’s removal sends wrong signal at a time when consistency, trust, and economic discipline, displayed by Edun during his tenure, are most needed.
“Wishing Mr. Wale Edun the very best as he exits office as Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
“Having watched the politics up close, I can say this is a deeply unfortunate and potentially miscalculated decision for Nigeria’s economic reform journey.
“At a time when consistency, trust and economic discipline are most needed, removing one of the few steady hands at the centre of reform sends the wrong signal.” She had posted.
This would however be followed with pictures of her and Tinubu which she shared on her X handle on Thursday with a short caption, “With Mr. President”.
The post had sparked mixed reactions from netizens with some questioning the motive behind the post considering her reaction against the President’s removal of Tinubu.
“People always have alot to say about our leaders until you meet them in person. In one word, what would you say surprised you the most when you met him?”@Farmers_Gate asked with Olayinka disclosing that Tinubu is an authoritative person.
“Authoritative” The journalist replied.
While some expressed their admiration with the journalist and Tinubu, others however slammed the president.
