No fewer six people have been killed with several others injured in another fresh attack on Benue community by suspected gunmen.
The gunmen reportedly stormed the Channel One community, a border settlement in the Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward of Logo Local Government Area of the state on Sunday night.
They opened fire at the unsuspecting residents, throwing the community into pandemonium.
According to reports, a community leader, Joseph Anawah, confirmed that six people died on the spot during the attack.
The deceased victims, as identified by Anawah, include Akor Gwakyaa, Msooter Gwakyaa, Aondoungwa Michael, Vershima Michael, Terna Michael, and Msughter Terzungwe.
While also disclosing that about seven others are currently under critical conditions with life-threatening injuries, the community leader recounted how the assailants stormed the community with bikes.
“Those in critical condition, numbering about seven, have been taken to Ugba town in Logo LGA for further treatment.
“The attackers came in large numbers, armed with firearms, and rode on motorcycles. It is alleged that they are camped at Shaor, one of the deserted villages identified in several intelligence reports as a base for marauders in Logo LGA.” He said.
While also confirming the tragic incident, the chairman of Logo LGA, Clement Kav, claimed that seven people were killed and four others injured.
“They killed seven people and injured four others. They came, carried out the attack, and fled,” he said.
