The Nigerian ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has come under fire after revealing how much he pays to shaved in a London saloon.
Omokri had in a posted on his X handle on Thursday revealed shaving at the rate of £40.
He talked about how the cost of living is very high, stressing that it is not as rosy as Nigerians think it is.
“The cost of living in this country is very high. If you want, maybe a One Bedroom Flat here, you are looking at probably £2500 a month.
“The Cost Of Living In Nigeria Is Way Better Than Many Parts Of The World!” Omokri said.
The ambassador-designate’s idea of comparing the cost of living in Nigeria to London appeared not to sit well with many Nigerians as it sparked backlash against him.
“Does your country Nigeria offers good road, hospitals, good educational institution, steady electricity, securities? And many more. How many time have you heard that masses are being kidnapped on daily basis in UK? If your country is functioning well tell me why are u in UK?” @Louiz_omaja
“I’ve never seen anyone as foolish as Reno ,can you shave in Nigeria with 40 naira ? Do you know that £40 is supposed to be 40 naira if you and your greedy colique didn’t mess up this country.. but you choose to be an illiterate with degree. 🤡” @Clefrapsody
“If £40 is used to shave in London, why can’t use N40 to shave in Nigeria, abi is it not suppose to equivallent same in figure … or are you being stupid and want to justify that life is Nigeria is better… Nigga you can’t be this stupid with your gray hair na. Ok what’s your maths here make it make sense please.” @iamshyblakj
“So you’ve now grown enough wings to even compare Nigerian economy and society to those that colonised and is still in good relations with the Nigeria itself..
“It’s not your fault that integrity can be sold easily.” @DeRightgram
“Comparing pay without comparing living costs is just economic illusion. Young adults in nigeria need help with comprehension.” @SolomonOpesusi
“Lies! The average cost of a one-bedroom in London isn’t £2500.” @BemUnfiltered
“Shamelessly, a so called ambassador does not understand simple basis for economic comparison…Do you have infrastructures in Lagos similar to what you see in London?” @afrikanpeinz1
