The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to contest in the party’s primaries.
Uzodinma who purchased the nomination forms in pursuit of the Imo West Senatorial ticket had at the weekend appeared before the screening panel in Abuja.
Following his screening, the APC’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, declared Uzodinma qualified to contest for the primaries as he lauded his contribution to the party and his state.
He noted that the governor met all the requirements laid down by the party and as such is eligible to contest in the primaries.
“You’ve served this party. Today, you are the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum. We have all reasons to say that you served this party judiciously and you served the nation.
“You served your state and you did credibly well with us. So you’ve shown capacity in different ways.
“Having met all the requirements laid down by the party, we hereby declare you qualified to contest in the 2026 primary election.” Yilwatda said.
Reacting to the development in a post shared on his X handle, Uzodinma expressed his readiness to serve his constituents at the red chamber.
He affirmed his commitment to service and purposeful leadership, stressing that his screening success marks the beginning of a renewed call to service.
“My journey to the Red Chamber begins with an assurance to my dear people of Imo West Senatorial District, and to my great party, the All Progressives Congress, on whose platform I humbly aspire to represent my people.
“I remain deeply committed to the ideals of service, purposeful leadership, and inclusive progress that define our shared vision for a better future, and the success of my screening by our great party marks not just a milestone, but the beginning of a renewed call to service.
“It is a significant step toward advancing the aspirations of our people and contributing meaningfully to national development through responsible and people-oriented representation.” Uzodinma wrote.
