Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has demanded the arrest of alleged pro-All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs over vandalisation of the Accord Party’s campaign billboards and properties across Osogbo.
Adeleke accused the state police command of protecting the thugs as the expense of public properties.
This was made known in a statement signed by Spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
While commending the efforts of the policemen who revoked an attempt by thugs to destroy statutes at Abere roundabout, Adeleke stated that the police should change their current approach to effectively apprehend the APC thugs led by Asiri Eniba.
“I hereby direct the Commissioner of Police to immediately effect the arrest of Asiri Eniba and his gangs who are terrorising the state.
“They moved around in Sienna buses, Hilux jeeps and motorcycles, shooting sporadically. The police know them and the state command should do the needful”, the governor said as quoted by Rasheed.
The governor warned of possible attack on government buildings if the thugs are not arrested.
“These political criminals are now attacking public properties. Security agencies should prevent a scenario in which untamed thugs will set state secretariat and other government buildings on fire,” He added.
“I call on all security agencies to rise to this urgent task of enforcing law and order and preventing anarchy.”
“The police authorities must not wait for the public to resort to self- help before taking potent action”, Adeleke added.
NPO Reports contacted the Osun Police Command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, for update on possible arrest of the hoodlums.
Ojelabi, in a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Monday, maintained that investigation is still ongoing over the case.
“Investigation from the social media post on this case just commenced yesterday.” The police spokesperson said.
