The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, over alleged N500 billion fund.
Abdullahi’s detention was reportedly disclosed by an EFCC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
According to official, the ECN D-G was arrested on Wednesday in Abuja and held over allegations of money laundering.
“We have arrested the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, over alleged money laundering offences.
”He was arrested in Abuja, and is currently in our custody. He will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the source said.
Recall that Abdullahi was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the third D-G of the commission on October 24, 2023.
