The Abdulraman Mohammed-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the commencement of the screening process for presidential and governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party made the disclosure in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, on behalf of the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.
According to the statement, the screening of governorship aspirants will take place at noon on Thursday at the PDP National Secretariat Annex, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja. The screening of presidential aspirants is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the same venue.
The PDP said the presidential aspirants’ screening committee will be chaired by former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, while Hassan Sokodobo will serve as secretary.
Other members of the committee include: Alhaji Abba Isawa, Senator George Sekibo, Sodipo Semiu, Mrs Chinelo Chidebelu, Nasiru Mohammed, Senator Zainab Kure, Lindsey Sora.
The party also named former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi, as chairman of the governorship aspirants’ screening committee, while George Ariolu will serve as secretary.
Other members of the committee are:, Dr Ibrahim Umar, Prof. Aisha Madawaki, Tajudeen Yusuf, Dr Abdulganiyu Oloyin, Babangida Modibbo, Alhaji Buba Biri, Olaniyi Ogungbuji, Mike Ahumibe, Gabriel Igboko, Pastor Tony Effiong, Mrs Precious Ojelabi.
NPO Reports recall that the Tanimu Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee of the PDP had also extended the deadline for the purchase of nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 elections.
The party extended the deadline for purchasing forms for all offices to May 15.
