The woman who accused the Nigerian Army of demanding N2m for the release of her brother’s body has recanted her allegation.
She made this known in viral video posted on X on Wednesday while apologizing for falsely accusing the Army.
NPO earlier Reported that the lady whose name was not disclosed had in a video shared posted yesterday alleged the army’s refusal to release the body of her late brother who died in the military barracks in Benin city, Edo state, after brief illness.
She had, in the video, claimed that efforts by the family to negotiate with army proved abortive as they allegedly demanded N2 million before transporting his corpse home for burial.
In her new video, the lady dismissed the allegation, stressing that it was a miscommunication from her end and the issue has been resolved.
“It is a miscommunication from Benin to here. We mistook what they said, and everything has been resolved,” she said.
She maintained that the Army did not request for N2m, that it was estimation of the cost of transporting the body Benin to them.
“Because my brother called me this morning and explained exactly what they said. They did not demand for N2m and they just reference of expenses.“ She said.
In the video, the lady apologized for accusing the Army falsely.
She claimed that as the time of making the video, she and her family were going through emotional turmoil.
“I want to apologize to the Army. It was an emotional moment for me and my family and it made me make that video.
“I deeply want to say I am sorry to the Army for making that video to drag the army. I could have calm down first to listen to everything,” she said.
