The body of late Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, has been laid to rest at his hometown in Arochukwu, Abia State.
NPO Reported that the actor passed away on the 13th of May after prolonged battle with cancer.
His demise had thrown the Nollywood industry into a state of mourning as friends and colleagues paid tribute to the 40-year-old late actor.
Ekubo’s burial rites commenced last Thursday with Service of Song which recorded heavy attendance from Nolly wood actors and other top personalities in the entertainment industry.
Sequel to the programme, the body of the late actor was transported home for final burial.
Video of the burial ceremony shared on X on Thursday captured the emotional moment the white casket conveying the late Ekubo’s body was lowered into the grave.
Another clip showed moment his wife paid her last respect to her late husband as she poured sand on his casket.
The event also had in attendance several friends and colleagues of the late actor, including his best friend, IK Ogbonna.
Born on April 10, 1986, Ekubo studied Law at the University of Calabar before venturing into entertainment.
He rose to prominence after emerging first runner-up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria competition, which opened doors to a successful acting career spanning over a decade.
There have been concerns over Ekubo’s health in recent months following his prolonged absence from social media and public appearances.
