The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas following the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr Dotun Oyelade, on Saturday, in Ibadan.
Dotun assured residents that they can now resume their normal activities.
NPO Reported that Makinde had, on Tuesday, imposed a 48-hour curfew from 4.00p.m. to 8.00a.m. in 10 local government areas amid the insecurity challenges in the state, particularly the abduction of 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers in Oriire LGA.
The governor extended the curfew for another 24 hours which was announced in a memo issued on Thursday evening by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde.
The LGAs which were affected include Atiba, Atisbo, Irepo, Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Olorunsogo, Oriire, Oorelope, Saki West Saki East, border the Old Oyo National Park.
He expressed appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of the people in the affected areas.
The commissioner added that the state government was closely monitoring the security situation and reassured residents that efforts are ongoing to bring the kidnapping episode to an end.
