A woman identified as Mrs Talatu Amos who was abducted by suspected bandits in Kaduna State has reportedly died while in captivity, while her firstborn son was has been killed after delivering ransom to secure her release.
The woman was kidnapped in December 2025 from the Bayan Dutse area of Narayi in Kaduna South Local Government Area.
According to reports, her abductors demanded a ransom that exceeded what her family and members of the community could afford.
A community member identified as Noble disclosed the incident in a Facebook post shared on Saturday, noting that the family failed to raise the full ransom before the deadline given by the kidnappers.
According to the post, the victim’s son, identified as Joshua Amos, volunteered to deliver the amount the family had managed to raise in the hope of negotiating his mother’s release.
Joshua took the first ransom on the 13th of February 2026 in Rijana and was held captive too after discovering that his mother had already died.
Despite the woman’s death, the kidnappers collected the ransom, detained Joshua, and later tortured him to death.
Joshua is survived by his wife, children, and other family members.
