MultiChoice has officially become a full subsidiary of Canal+, marking a new chapter for one of Africa’s leading pay television companies.
The development was announced in a statement on Thursday by the Chief Executive Officer of Canal+ Africa and MultiChoice, David Mignot.
According to Mignot, the integration places MultiChoice within a global media group with operations in 70 countries.
He noted that Canal+ was founded in France, is listed on the London and Johannesburg, and has a strong presence across Africa with operations in more than 45 countries.
Mignot said the acquisition would strengthen MultiChoice’s position in Africa’s media and entertainment industry by providing access to Canal+‘s global resources, expertise and international capabilities, while reinforcing the group’s long-term commitment to the continent.
MultiChoice operates across sub-Saharan Africa through platforms such as DStv and GOtv, serving millions of subscribers with entertainment, sports and news content.
