The Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has celebrated the safe return of the students and teachers who were kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on may 15.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong on Friday.
NPO Reported that the development was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on X.
According to Onanuga, all the abducted pupils and teachers were successfully rescued by security agencies.
Ememobong commended the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, security agencies and others who were connected with the safe return of the victims.
“Although details of the rescue remain limited, we commend the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, security agencies and all individuals and organisations whose efforts contributed to the safe return of the victims.
“No one should be subjected to such trauma in the pursuit of education,” he said.
Ememobong called on the federal government to take decisive steps to prevent a recurrence of such heinous acts.
He noted that the protection of lives and property remained the first responsibility of government.
